Goals
Wired Desk is aimed at empowering non-technical people to contribute content and manage their own website. The theme of the design is to make the user interface simple to use.
The approach is to enforce a strategy of putting content into the system in XML form (invisible to the user) ensuring content storage is future proof. Also the look and feel of the site is encouraged to be controlled by style sheets within the templates. The users are only given minimal corporate style options that they can use within there page.
Another aim is to allow re-use of resources that otherwise would be wasted. So libraries are provided to give you Asset Mangement for pictures, documents, tables, audio and video files.
Lastly we want to give you control of who does what on your website. Therefore access control is provided based on what areas of the website you are allowed to work in and what privileges you have for that area.
